Get Involved Volunteer Donate Internships

There are many ways to get involved with the Family Nurturing Center of Massachusetts. FNC provides a wide range of volunteer opportunities, both short-term and long-term, for individuals and groups. We also welcome students from many colleges and universities to join our team for various types of internships.

Have you read about a particular program you would like to support? Please consider making a financial donation to support a family's participation in the program. Or perhaps you could volunteer to assist in staffing the program.

Do you have a special talent that you would like to share with others? Perhaps you can sew, knit, or crochet, and you can make baby blankets for the Welcome Baby baskets. Perhaps you speak a language other than English and you could help with translating materials or doing Welcome Baby visits to families who speak that language.

If you'd like to be involved with FNC in an ongoing way, consider joining the 'Friends of Family Nurturing Center'.

What is a 'Friend?'

  • A Friend is committed to FNC's mission: "To work with others to build nurturing communities where children are cherished, families are supported and healthy human development is promoted by all."
  • A Friend commits time, talent or treasure to assist FNC to achieve its mission and goals.

How do Friends help?

The Friends of Family Nurturing Center will work collectively and individually to mobilize resources to support FNC's work of nurturing families, children and communities throughout Massachusetts. Some examples of Friends activities are:

  • Volunteering time in a Family Nurturing Program (holding babies, co-facilitating children's groups, preparing food for the group meal)
  • Assembling Welcome Baby gift bags
  • Making blankets for Welcome Baby
  • Hosting a Welcome Baby Shower
  • Hosting a FNC 'House Party' to introduce friends to FNC's work
  • Making a financial, in-kind, or skill-based contribution
  • Preparing FNC newsletters for mailing
  • Volunteering time at a Circle of Caring Playspace or Family Resource Center

For more information, contact Valerie Bean at info@familynurturing.org or (617) 474-1143 x224. Friends will receive newsletters and email notices of volunteer opportunities, family and community needs, and special events including an annual recognition event.
